5302 Dauphine
This is an award-winning historic renovation of a Hurricane Katrina-damaged residence in New Orleans’ Holy Cross neighborhood and our first residential development project. Abandoned since the storm and gutted when purchased, the house retained a stable foundation, original hardwood floors, brick fireplaces, and exterior siding. The house and surrounding property were completely renovated and returned to use as a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath single-family residence.
About the Project
5302 Dauphine began as a badly damaged and gutted house that had remained vacant since Hurricane Katrina. Working as owner and architect alongside a general contractor, we preserved the original hardwood floors, brick fireplaces, and exterior siding while completely rebuilding the interior and improving the surrounding yard, driveway, and accessory garage. The project was our first experience developing our own work and established an early connection between design, construction, and investment that continues to inform Guidry Works today. The completed project received a Louisiana Landmarks Society award for Residential Renovation/Rehabilitation.
